The most important quote of the debate

The quote “Governor Romney, I’m glad that you recognize that Al Qaida is a threat, because a few months ago when you were asked what’s the biggest geopolitical threat facing America, you said Russia, not Al Qaida; you said Russia, in the 1980s, they’re now calling to ask for their foreign policy back because, you know, the Cold War’s been over for 20 years.”

“Al Qaida is a threat”

Then why, you stuttering clusterfuck of a miserable failure, did you ignore Ambassador Steven’s plea for more security due to Al Qaeda’s increased prescence? Because it didn’t fit your narrative, you murdering son of a bitch?

This needs to be hammered home. When Nixon Lied nobody died…when Obama lies we lose Border Patrol agents, hundreds of innocent Mexican citizens and an Ambassador and his security team.

Al Qaida would not have been near as much a problem if it hadn’t been for the Soviets dumping so much into international terrorist infrastructure.

Russia today likely still possesses the foreign policy mores that they inherited from the Byzantines, and which combined in the Soviets with communism to create a soviet foreign policy that brought much evil into the world.

Russia might be the sanest, and most functional of the world powers aligned as our enemies. This might well make it the most dangerous.

And just because Russia and China don’t have the budgets and fanaticism they used to throw around doesn’t mean that the forces they unleashed for the Cold War automatically became shackled. There is a case that the War on Terror is effectively a continuation of the Cold War.

When the Soviets dropped out of the Cold War, we might have taken the opportunity to destroy every organization hostile to us that they had sponsored. What we actually did seems to have involved crying ‘peace dividend’, and sitting on our rear while they festered. If we had instead taken out Cuba, and all the other powers and facilities the Soviets had used for training terrorists for use against us…
