PHOENIX - Who would have believed it? John McCain — occasional antagonist of the establishment, defender of an unpopular war, loser of the 2000 primary campaign — stands as the likely Republican nominee for president. After a whirlwind of voting Tuesday that delivered a seemingly insurmountable delegate lead over rival Mitt Romney, McCain still faces a daunting task — winning over the conservatives who are suspicious of, even hostile toward, the four-term Arizona senator.
Maybe Juan McCain should of thought about that before he repeatedly stabbed conservatives and the Nation in the back so he could get his mug on Meet The DePressed.
Here’s some straight talk: Juan McCain’s whole schtick has been to be in “moderate opposition” so as to facilitate running his cockholster on the nightly news as often as possible. Correctly guessing that the favorable portrayal by the MSM would get him votes by the 40% of registered Re[publicans who either don’t read or should have switched Party long ago.
Now his hope is that Conservatives will hold their nose and vote McCain. A slimy tactic indeed when you look at how he deliberately screwed the base for his own ends.
We call women who goes back to a man who has slept around on her and beaten her a lot of name. Stupid slut being one of them.
I’m not John McCain’s stupid slut. He better pray hard that Her Thighness, the Canklebeast, gets nominated. Because that is the only way in hell that I am even going to consider the remote possibility of pulling the lever next to his name.
On second thought…better the Hildabeast you know than a man who you’ll never know when the knife will come out in slide between your ribs and into your liver. Better a target of clear opposition for a minority Republican Party.
/me pops some more popcorn…
Ahhh, so entertaining.
McSpain vs Hitlery? Write in FRED!
Me, I’m going back to my Bruce Campbell write-in vote option.
He’s running hard against Snake Pliskin in my magical mental world, but currently has the lead.
And yet, given a real choice between McCain and either Hillary or Barack, you know most conservatives will hold their noses and vote for McCain. They just won’t like it.
Welcome to the moderates world, guys. We have to do that shit all the time, when some shitbag crazy Republican loon gets nominated, and we have to choose between voting for our party’s loon, or the way-left loon.
Imp, while you’re at it, get some materials ready to make tons of Molotov cocktails…we might need them, and I prefer trusted, untraceable international sources.
Remember, that deal to reenact 1814 might still stand.
Sorry, Chuckles, not his time. We did that with Bush. Given the choice between McCain and Obama I am going to vote for Obama. He seems like a decent man and at least we know where we stand with him.
Things aren’t so simple for me, Quilly. Suffice to say, if Hillary runs, I’ll just vote for McCain and go get shit-faced (or, do nothing, since Utah
alwayscarries the® vote…and get shit-faced).Obama is very much against our current war. McCain is very much for it.
That counts for something.
They’re both gun-grabbing retards. That doesn’t count for anything, since I feel like I’m picking my executioner.
My beef on immigration is much less intense that yours. Personal family history.
McCain-Feingold is total horseshit, yes. TOTAL horseshit. Does that outweigh abandoning the war? I don’t know yet. There might be other tie-breaker issues that pop up.
Either way, Mitt is my last hope for retaining something of my self-respect when I vote. He still has something of a chance.
Unfortunately with Clinton on the ballot I’d almost have to cast the anti-vote for McCain and follow blt straight to the nearest pub. With Obama on the ticket I think I’ll skip the voting all together and start digging the fallout shelter. Of the three, I fear Obama has the highest potential for lasting damage to the country with his total lack of political experience and displayed total naivety in foreign relations.
With Obama as President the Republican minority can dig in it’s heels with support from Blue Dog Democrats. With McCain as President the Leftist agenda goes through unchecked.
We are going to draw down in Iraq. If Bush was magically granted another term we would draw down in Iraq. We aren’t, regardless of what the kossacks say and who is President, going to bail out of Iraq the way we did in Vietnam.
We aren’t going to bail out of Afghanistan, too many Democrats used that as a wedge the last several years …”well I support Afghanistan but Iraq was too far…for them to support that.
The only President who would yank the forces out of the Middle East is our Crazy Uncle Ron. And that isn’t going to happen.
Basically the next two years are set in stone for the war effort. But that leaves a lot of room for the social agenda. And that’s where having a Republican minority steadfast against a Democrat President means a lot.
The “R” next to Juan McCain’s name makes it easier for the Liberals to slide their agenda through. I feel a McCain Presidency is more likely to result in a further slip down the slope than an Obama Presidency.
Obama? “Decent man”? Sorry to disillusion you, but the man is a bought-and-paid-for Illinois Machine politician with a good rap. Nothing more, nothing less. Talk to Ms. Deeley about his book – she’s better at deconstructing that shit than I am but he’s already made his bona fide’s known. He’s a bought-and-paid-for union man. A gun-grabber of the worst sort.
What does that mean to me? He hates the 2nd amendment, and his policies would be death on small business, and personal responsibility. Hell, I’ll vote for Ron Paul before I vote for Obama.
And with Obama as Pres., the Republican minority will get slow-rolled. They may dig in their heels, but it won’t do any good. They’ll just get screwed in slow motion.
Romney just quit.
POTR picked it up first, I saw it via the Puppy Blender.
