Mary McCarthy. For those of you who haven’t heard, she is the former member of the CIA that leaked the infamous “European Secret Prison” story to the Washington Post. I say “former” member of the CIA because she has been fired for the leak.
It turns out that (Surprise, surprise!) she was a Clintonite who was/is a very partisan supporter of the Democratic Party. She even donated $2,000 (the max amount allowed) to the John Kerry presidential run in 2004, and even more cash to the Democrats in general. So it comes as no shock that she would leak information to the press in an effort to damage the Republican administration.
Her actions—reprehensible as hell—do not even raise an eyebrow with me. The lefties have long been known for skullduggery and subterfuge to get what they want. No, what suprises me is the members of the elistist media and others of liberal pursuasion who are coming to Ms. McCarthy’s defense. It seems that they feel that it is a citizen’s duty to squeal to the press whenever their conscience calls for it (never mind that she was handing over classfied information, or that she signed a non-disclosure statement when she took the job at the CIA, or that national security may have been jeopardized). Nope, in the minds of the liberal elite, any and all information should be handed over to the media if it casts a bad shadow on (Republican) government’s actions. I call bullshit.
Mary McCarthy is a liar who used her position to undermine the administration, and in doing so may have helped to undermine the War on Terror. All for political gain. Her actions are reprehensible, and she should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Period.
I hope she spends the rest of her life rotting in a federal penitentiary.

She was also a friend of…wait for it…Joe Wilson. They both served in the NSC, during the Clinton years, both with the African Portfolio. Amazingly she was the leader of African analysis section when Wilson went to Niger.
