Somebody Actually Enforced an Immigration Law!

Well, not everyone in the federal government has curled up in the fetal position, and started sucking their thumb over illegal immigration. There are apparently a few people out there still earning their paychecks.

Four supervisors for Fischer Homes were among 80 people arrested Tuesday as part of a two-year probe into the use of illegal immigrant workers in the home construction industry in Northern Kentucky.

The supervisors were charged with hiring illegal immigrants. The other 76 persons arrested were charged with being in the United States illegally.

The investigation, which is continuing, ties Fischer Homes directly to the subcontractor who hired and employed the undocumented immigrants, according to court documents. Indeed, court papers say, the subcontractor, Robert Pratt, also provided housing for the immigrants, most of whom are from Mexico or Guatemala.

Meanwhile a local sherriff has taken it upon himself to (gasp!) do what he was elected to do and enforce the law within the confines of his jurisdiction.

On the other hand, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio has mobilized a posse to seek out and arrest undocumented immigrants for conspiracy to smuggle themselves into the United States.

The efforts come on the heels of an anti-human-smuggling statute that took effect in Arizona in August and gave prosecutors a tool to go after “coyotes,” or smugglers, who traffic in undocumented immigrants. And while this is going on, Grassfire.org is putting up billboards in Texas to bring attention to their lobbying campaign in Washington to kill amnesty efforts for illegals.

Conservatives are firing back at those who support amnesty and a guest worker program for illegal immigrants. Their latest weapon is a billboard located on Stemmons Freeway in Dallas.

If you work near downtown Dallas it’ll be hard to miss one billboard during your commute.

Dallas is the first city to get one, but there are plans to put these signs up from California to Florida.

I’m just hoping that the anti-illegal/anti-amnesty movement is starting to gain some traction and getting the attention it needs to get in our nation’s capital. I’m tired of the politicians ignoring the American people on this issue.
