From the Fake but Accurate category comes this report from Allahpundit.Â
Israeli politicians are sounding some very dire notes, but as far as I know, no one’s independently confirmed this morning’s story in the National Post yet. Neither Stephen Harper nor John Howard had heard anything about it until today. And a friend of mine with contacts in Iran says he can’t find anyone who thinks it’s true. Liberal Catnip links to a report from Montreal radio quoting one expert as saying it’s false.
What Allahpundit is speaking of is the report that Iran will require Jews ot wear a yellow ribbon, Christians a red one and Zorastrians a blue ribbon. What is true is that the Islamic Majlis, the Iranian religious legislature, did pass a law requiring everyone in Iran to wear Approved by Allahtm clothing. Now we’ve seen this before in China. Everyone wore those cute little jackets and pajama pants.
And a lot of people died.
Now the colored swatches portion of the dress code may be wrong, but given the previous speeches of Iran’s Holocaust denying President it is completely believable. Which may be one reason that such a claim hasn’t been blazed across the media. We expect him to be a Jew hater, and thus like expecting a Kennedy to drive drunk or rape a defenseless woman we don’t give the him the disapproval that we would another.
The difference here is that the lives of tens of thousands may be in jeopardy, probably are in danger, and just because we expect a scorpian to act like a scorpian doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be prepared to take the heel of our shoe to it.
